(FOX40.COM) — The Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications announced that 16 organizations working across Sacramento are helping more families learn how to claim their CalKIDS Scholarship, that are worth up to $1,500.

According to officials, CalKIDS is the nation’s largest child development account program. It was launched by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2022 with the intention of the program investing $1.9 billion in the accounts of low-income school-age children.
Officials said some public school students from first grade to senior year, and children born on or after July 1, 2022, are eligible. Meanwhile, 122,114 public school students in Sacramento County alone were named eligible and can claim their scholarships, officials said.
The goal is for the money to be used for educational tuition fees, book supplies, and more, or career training.

27,908 eligible in Sacramento City Unified
26,937 eligible in Twin Rivers Unified
24,135 eligible in San Juan Unified
8,022 eligible in Natomas Unified
6,329 eligible in Folsom-Cordova Unified

Raising awareness about CalKIDS
Assisting parents and students in checking eligibility
Guiding families through the simple steps needed to claim their scholarship accounts
Providing culturally and linguistically tailored outreach to ensure no community is left behind
