Community Connect is always here to hook you up and help you out with resources you can use… and it’s a good time to start planning summer activities for the young people in your life.
Alvin Ailey Dance Theater is hosting a free 6-week youth summer dance camp in Chicago! The camp uses dance as a vehicle to help enrich the lives of youth, help them develop life skills and create lifelong friendships. The classes are filled with dance, visual art, creative writing, drumming, fun events, and field trips, plus the young dancers will get to perform in a dance concert, too. It’s happening June 23rd-August 1st, open to ages 11-14 and applications are open now at this link through April 12th. Spots are limited but it is free to those accepted.
And applications are also open for the Chicago Aldermanic Black Caucus (CABC) Foundation’s 2025 scholarships for graduating high school seniors in Chicago. These scholarships are worth up to $10,000 annually and are open to residents of a CABC Ward pursuing a four-year degree at an accredited university. Students need to write a 500-word essay and have a recommendation letter from a teacher, coach, or community leader. The deadline to apply at this link is April 15th.
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
