STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Golfers gathered at the Steubenville Country Club on Friday morning for the second annual Frank Colallela Charitable Golf Outing, an event dedicated to raising funds for scholarships for local high school seniors.
More than 90 participants teed off at 9 a.m. to honor the memory of Frank Colallela, who passed away from liver cancer two years ago.
In addition to the golf tournament, a silent auction and other activities were held to support the cause. Organizers and family members said the event aligns with Colallela's legacy of community service.
"He always gave to the community, and I think it's great to give back to the community," said Jessica Colallela, Frank Colallela's daughter.
Teresa Coulter Gagliardi, an organizer of the event, added, "He did give back a lot. Frank didn't know a stranger, to be honest with you. Every person he met was family."
Organizers anticipate raising between $25,000 to $30,000, with all proceeds benefiting students at Brooke High School.
