INTRODUCTION

The Community Solutions Program (CSP) is a professional development program for emerging community leaders from around the world. It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and implemented by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX). The program aims to strengthen the capacity of community leaders to work effectively on projects that address critical social issues in their communities.
The program typically lasts for approximately four months, during which participants engage in a comprehensive leadership training, professional development, and networking.

Components

  • Leadership Institute: Participants spend about four weeks in the United States attending a leadership development program at a U.S.-based NGO or university. This is an intensive training that focuses on leadership and organizational development, project planning, and other relevant skills.
  • Community-Based Placement: After the Leadership Institute, participants are placed with U.S. host organizations that are aligned with their professional interests and expertise. They work on projects and gain practical experience in their field.

The program focuses on a range of social issues, including but not limited to:

  • Women and gender issues

ELIGIBILITY

  • Participants must be between 25 and 38 years old.
  • They must be proficient in English.
  • They should be committed to returning to their home countries for a minimum of two years after completing the program.
  • They must be actively engaged in community development, either through their work or volunteer activities.
