The continuation of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) has been approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE) has approved) till 2025-26 with minimum changes in the eligibility criteria like increasing the income ceiling from the present Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh per annum.
The scholarship receiving students are chosen through an exam which is conducted by the governments of different states and Union Territories. This scholarship scheme has been registered on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
The scholarship amount is directly deposited in the student’s bank accounts via electronic transfer using the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) in Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) mode. The central government provides 100 percent of the funds under this scheme.
