TOPICS:
The Gillett Farmers and Businessmen’s Club will be hosting its 81st Annual Coon Supper on Saturday, January 11, at the Gillett High School Gymnasium.
The event, which kicks off at 6 p.m., draws attendees from across Arkansas and beyond.
The "Coon Supper" is not just a meal but a significant fundraiser for the community. The club, a non-profit organization, uses the proceeds to support various local initiatives, including summer and school programs, an educational endowment fund, and athletic and scholastic awards.
For the past four years, the club has awarded the Gillett Farmers and Businessmen’s Scholarship to graduating seniors from the Gillett area. Each scholarship is valued at $4,000, spread over four years. The club plans to continue this tradition by awarding more scholarships to the class of 2024.
The event will also feature recognition of Gillett students participating in DeWitt High School activities. Attendees can look forward to purchasing "Coon Supper" T-shirts and hats as souvenirs.
Ticket information is available by contacting Tyler Place at 870-830-4422 or writing to PO Box 577, Gillett, AR 72055.
