SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union has invested in the community’s future by granting $24,000 in scholarships to 2024 high school graduates.
The scholarships, awarded to 24 recipients attending college or trade school in the fall, provide each student with $1,000 to support their educational pursuits.
“At Coosa Pines, we are not just a financial institution but a community partner,” said CEO Don Carden. “We are dedicated to enhancing the communities we serve by providing scholarships to support outstanding students in pursuing their educational aspirations. These scholarships are a testament to our belief in the power of education and our commitment to fostering personal and civic responsibility.”
The recipients, from 11 different high schools, demonstrated academic excellence and an understanding of the credit union’s values of personal and civic responsibility.
For example, in scholarship recipient Maya Vincent’s essay, the Childersburg High School graduate eloquently expressed the credit union’s “people helping people” philosophy.
“Acts of kindness can inspire others to do the same, creating a chain reaction of goodness,” Vincent wrote. “It’s all about spreading love and making a difference, one person at a time!”

Ashleigh Metcalf (Fayetteville High School) – Nursing at Jacksonville State University

Avery Williamson (Thompson High School) – Nursing at Auburn University
Braelyn Taylor (Vincent High School) – Radiologic Technology/Pre-Med at Jefferson State Community College
Brycen Wilson (Coosa Valley Academy) – Business Administration at Central Alabama Community College
Camilla Friday (Sylacauga High School) – Biomedical Sciences at Auburn University
Caroline Pinson (Pell City High School) – Psychology at the University of South Alabama
Charleigh Grice (Sylacauga High School) – Nursing at Southern Union State Community College
Chloe Abrams (Vincent High School) – Pre-Veterinary Sciences at Troy University
Chloey Carroll (Vincent High School) – Nursing at Coastal Alabama Community College

Coosa Pines has been awarding scholarships for over a decade. Membership, required for eligibility, is free for students and can be obtained at any branch or at CoosaPinesFCU.org.
