The Canada Council for the Arts provides recurring, multi-year funding—core grants—to support organizations with stable funding over several years.
If your organization is already receiving a core grant,
find out about reporting requirements, receiving payments, etc.
Are you planning to apply for a core grant under the Artist-Driven Organizations, Artistic Catalysts and Artistic Institutions components? The deadline is April 2, 2025 for core grant funding in fiscal years starting in 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029.
Core grants are available to organizations that have a history of funding from Canada Council programs.
The process for obtaining multi-year funding is highly competitive. The deadlines and eligibility criteria vary depending on the program. Please follow these steps before applying:
Once you’ve confirmed your organization’s eligibility, request an invitation to register for a Canadian Arts Data (CADAC) account. (Note: This does not apply to literary publishers.) Do this well in advance of any competition deadline by emailing coregrants@canadacouncil.ca.
Applications are assessed by peer assessment committees. Many factors pertaining to applicant organizations are taken into account, including:

Core grants support Artist-Driven Organizations for the creation, production and dissemination of work.
Core grants support arts organizations as Artistic Catalysts for the creation, production and dissemination of work.
Core grants support the activities of major Canadian Artistic Institutions as leaders in the development of arts practice.
Core grants support the ongoing artistic and cultural activities of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
Core grants support National Arts Service Organizations, Support Organizations and Literary Publishers.
Core grants support Arts Festivals and Presenters to strengthen artistic practice through presentation and exhibition work.
