CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Teams of four teed off at the Corpus Christi Country Club for the annual Buc Days Golf Tournament, but the focus wasn’t just on prizes.

The tournament raises funds for the Buccaneer Commission’s scholarship program, which supports local students in pursuing higher education. Selected students also participate in a six-month leadership program, a partnership between Buc Days and the Port of Corpus Christi.
Mark Larue, co-chairman of the Buccaneer Commission Golf Committee, said the program helps retain local talent. “We lose many talented high school seniors to larger cities, so it’s important to show through this leadership program how great Corpus Christi is and why they should come back,” Larue said.
High school seniors interested in the leadership program and scholarship opportunities can apply online at bucdays.com.
