The Young Family Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by the owning family of YK Communications. The organization has a mission to share success with local communities by way of scholarships and grants.

The Young Family Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by the owning family of YK Communications. The organization has a mission to share success with local communities by way of scholarships and grants.
Four Wharton County high school students were awarded scholarship funds from The Young Family Foundation, making up half of the organization’s scholarship awards for the Class of 2024.
El Campo High School had three students receive the scholarship, while Louise High School had the other.
Grace Amestoy, an ECHS graduate-to-be, plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station on an academic scholarship and pursue a degree in Agricultural Economics, with emphasis in Agricultural Policy.
Her goal is to pursue a career in Agricultural Law.
Jade Alquisira, also a Ricebird, will be studying Welding Technology at Texas State Technical College and received a vocational scholarship.
After she attains her associates, Alquisira hopes to start working and one day open her own business.
Fellow Ricebird Juliann Little, who also plans on attending TAMU on an academic scholarship, hopes to one day become a pediatrician after attending medical school.
Little will be majoring in Biomedical Science.
Graduating Louise High School senior Kobe Gussman received an academic scholarship and will be attending Texas State University in San Marcos with the intent of studying Electrical Engineering.
Gussman would like to be able to open his won company with the hopes of one day being able to offer apprenticeships to college students.
The foundation also awarded scholarships to four Ganado High School seniors – Chloe Gresham (Wharton County Junior College – Physical Therapy Assistant), Logan Tupa (Texas A&M University – Business Administration and Accounting), Martin Ramirez (University of Texas-San Antonio – Mechanical Engineering) and Juan Pablo Almeda (Texas A&M University – Kinesiology, Motor Behavior).
Academic scholarships include $2,000 per semester for up to eight semesters, while vocational scholarships cover $1,000 per semester over the course of six semesters.
In total, the foundation awarded $108,000 to the Class of 2024.
