For the third consecutive year, Credit One Bank has celebrated a new group of recipients for its One For The Community Scholarship, aimed at supporting Las Vegas-based students who plan to remain in Nevada for higher education.
The scholarship, launched in partnership with the Public Education Foundation (PEF) in 2023, initially awarded 11 college-bound high school seniors from low- to moderate-income families.
Last year, the number of recipients increased to 15, and this year, 21 students have been selected.
Each student receives $2,500 for their first year of college, with the potential to renew the scholarship for up to three additional years, totaling $10,000.
The selection process is a collaborative effort between Credit One Bank and the Public Education Foundation. Since 1995, the PEF has been supporting local students through its Scholarships Plus Program, partnering with over 400 organizations and individuals across Nevada to award more than 900 scholarships annually.
"The expansion of this scholarship means that more students will have the opportunity to pursue higher education, and during a time that many are struggling, we are proud to offer a helping hand to more students than ever before," said Mamta Kapoor, Community Reinvestment Officer with Credit One Bank.
Kapoor added, "Each year I’ve been impressed with the quality of the students applying for the award and struck by the educational excellence, hard work, and discipline of the winners. They truly are the future of our state, and it’s my pleasure to be able to help them along their educational journey."
The students were recognized at a reception on Tuesday, May 13, at Credit One Bank’s Las Vegas headquarters.
