The Crook County Farm Bureau Federation has selected the winners for three scholarships awarded for 2025. The scholarship committee reviewed all applications submitted, six in total.
Based on the course of study, recommendation letters, extracurricular involvement and the desire for higher education and need, three scholarships were awarded. Determining the recipient of the Crook County Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship is always a very difficult decision and is based on many factors.
Keaton Mills
The first-place winner of the $2000 scholarship is Keaton Mills. Keaton was in the 2024 graduating class from Sundance with a 4.0 GPA and has just completed his first year at Chadron State College, pursuing a degree in Business Education.

His goals for the future involve becoming a high school teacher and coach, “So that he can make a positive impact on students in the classroom and through sports.” He values Crook County for being a small community that taught him the importance of hard work, faith and giving back- values he hopes to carry into his future career.
Cienna McGuckin
The second-place winner of the $1500 scholarship is Cienna McGuckin. Cienna was a graduate senior in the Sundance High School class of 2025.
This fall, she will be attending Black Hills State University, where she will be competing as a member of the Yellowjacket Rodeo Team.
She will be pursuing a degree in sociology, with an emphasis in law and justice. Her career goal involves becoming a forensic scientist where she will help solve crime and promote justice in her community.
In high school, Cienna was involved in several leadership roles, including the officer position of reporter for the Bearlodge FFA chapter. During her five years of involvement with FFA, she started the FFA monthly, a news report that was released every month highlighting to the public the goings on in their local chapter.
During her freshman and sophomore years, she led the Sundance High School Cheerleading team as captain. She currently is representing the Faith Stock Show and Rodeo as their crowned Jr Miss. With this title, she is responsible for the title’s social media pages and communications within her community, while also attending several rodeo events.
Hayes Haiar

He is currently going into his last year of the pre-pharmacy program, prior to enrolling in the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacology. He was accepted into the early assurance program to ensure his position, which he will begin in the fall of 2026.
During his freshman year at the University of Wyoming this past year, he joined the Sigma Chi fraternity and participated in many philanthropic events campus wide. He is excited to begin his sophomore year this fall, where he will be taking classes such as organic chemistry and genetics.
He would like to thank the Crook County Farm Bureau Federation and his hometown community for the opportunities that this scholarship and support have given him.
We would like to congratulate all three recipients and encourage all applicants to apply again in 2026. The Federation would also like to thank the Weston County Farm Bureau Federation for helping our organization by being the committee to review each applicant. This is not an easy task, and we are grateful for the time, dedication and partnership in this year’s scholarship program.
