The City of Port Coquitlam is offering project grants of up to $5,000 through the Community Cultural Development Investment Program to qualifying organizations that provide quality arts, heritage, and cultural activities to the community.
The focus areas include arts, heritage, and cultural activities. The objectives and priorities are to support arts, cultural and heritage projects, programs, events and festivals of established groups and encourage the creation and growth of arts, cultural, heritage and community festivals and special events within the City of Port Coquitlam. The guidelines emphasize that organizations located in Port Coquitlam and mandated to serve the municipality have priority, services and activities should benefit Port Coquitlam and be inclusive and non-discriminatory, recipients must adhere to a standard of excellence concerning ethical behaviour when involving the public, in-kind contributions will be taken into consideration when assessing funding allocations, organizations providing services that duplicate existing City programs may not be funded unless there is demonstrated need, and all categories require a final performance report and financial statements.
Applicants must be incorporated non-profit societies for at least one year, though federal charitable registration is not required. Projects, programs, events, and festivals must be primarily focused on Port Coquitlam and its residents. Eligibility is open to community organizations whose proposed projects are of an arts, heritage, or cultural nature, align with their mandate, and demonstrate expertise to deliver them.
Funding is not available for for-profit ventures such as projects with fundraising objectives, nor for significant capital projects like land or major building acquisitions. However, smaller equipment, supplies, and materials are eligible. Applicants may submit more than one application per year provided the funding is not for the same project. Each project must have clear objectives, a plan to meet them, and an evaluation process.
Grants are awarded as a single payment, and projects should be completed within one year of receiving funds. A final performance report is mandatory for accountability and future eligibility. Organizations that are unsuccessful may seek feedback from the foundation to improve their proposals.
