Central West Tennessee Association of Realtors partners up with Community Foundation of West Tennessee is launching a scholarship fund to invest in the next generation.
The Central West Tennessee Association of Realtors (CWTAR) teamed up with the Community Foundation of West Tennessee to award a $500 scholarship to graduating high school seniors. 39 News spoke with Brent Ward, CEO of CWTAR, about how the idea for the scholarship came to fruition.
“So, several years ago, we decided we wanted to host a golf tournament to raise funds for high school seniors, for a scholarship. And we’ve done scholarships several times throughout the years. And now we’re at the point where we’ve raised enough money.”
39 News also spoke with Beth Koffman, COO of the Community Foundation of West Tennessee, for more details on the award.
“So, this scholarship could potentially impact thousands of students across west Tennessee because one student from each of the nine counties service area will be eligible. And that’s for any student, whether home-schooled, in private school or public school.”
Koffman added that in the first hour after the scholarship became available, they received 14 applications—and that number doubled within 24 hours.
This scholarship is one of many organized by the Community Foundation of West Tennessee. The deadline for graduating seniors is May 31. For more information on how to apply, you can click here.
