Chelsea Cottrell of Dallastown Area High School won the 60th annual Distinguished Young Women of York County Scholarship Program on Sunday at The Pullo Center in Spring Garden Township.
The nationwide program started in 1958 and recognizes and rewards outstanding students with scholarships.
More than $34,000 in scholarships was awarded on Sunday.
Cottrell plans to become a middle level mathematics teacher. Her college choice is Pennsylvania State University.
She has many accomplishments, including National Honor Society, top 2.5% of class, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Society, distinguished honor roll, Top 5 National Cheerleading Finalist, and Music in the Park Outstanding Vocalist Award.
