
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Damar Hamlin and the Chasing M’s Foundation has announced the winners for the Buffalo Heroes Scholarship.
The Buffalo Heroes Scholarship honors 10 WNY high school and college-bound students looking to attend either local private high schools, trade schools, or universities.

The scholarship was put in place to recognize the medical team who saved Hamlin’s life during his cardiac arrest on January 2, 2023.
The 2025 scholarship winners are:
Florance Nyirabwiza – Lafayette International High School
John Fedkew – Daemen University
Damon Gawel – Bishop Timon – St Jude High School
Alexis McCann – Geneva High School/ Wayne Finger Lakes Boces
Christopher Lukasiak Jr. – Chautauaqa Lake Central School
Joseph Coletti – The Aquinas Institute of Rochester
Janessa Johnson – Amherst High School
Jonathan Douglass – Roberts Wesleyan University
Luis Vazquez – Tonawanda High School
QuinnIah Townsel – Mount st Mary’s
“The oppurtunity I have to give back and inspire others through my charity is an incredible blessing,” Hamlin said. “Whether kids nee help with books, tuition, or housing, the focus of this scholarship is to help these youth explore what comes next, whether that means college or trade school”
The scholarship offers $1,000 per year for housing, tuition or books. Students have the opportunity to apply for the scholarship each year of their enrollment at their chosen school. All applicants are eligible to apply up to two years after graduating high school.
