Arkansas Tech University student Taylor Darling is one of seven individuals from around the United States selected for a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) scholarship that will allow her to pursue the NASM personal training certification at no cost.
Darling, a senior from Nashville, applied for the scholarship and went through an interview process in order to be selected.
She was assisted in the application process by James Di Naso, adjunct instructor in the ATU Department of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science.
Darling’s goals following her graduation from Arkansas Tech include pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree while serving as a cheerleading coach on the side.
“I like that I can use what (NASM) teaches us in both realms,” said Darling. “The more people I can reach and help, the better.”
Darling is a captain for the ATU coed cheerleading team. She is majoring in health and exercise science.
