Davenport students celebrated the start of summer break and significant scholarships announcements this week.
On Tuesday, the Davenport Schools Foundation awarded more than $109,000 in scholarships to 42 high school seniors across the district.
These annual, donor-funded scholarships aim to support Davenport students’ post-secondary education endeavors.

The following students earned 2024 Davenport Schools Foundation scholarships:
Three Davenport seniors also received $2,000 scholarships from the Davenport Village Lion’s Club: Briana Cabrera, HannahCousins and Makenna Burt, of West High School.
The students will receive these scholarships at their graduation ceremonies. According to a press release from the Lion’s Club, Cabrera plans to study architecture at Iowa State University next year, Cousins plans to study human physiology at the University of Iowa and Burt plans to study medical science at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
