As the inaugural season of the combined Lebanon Youth Baseball and Softball Association draws to a close, a ceremony was held last Friday to award scholarships to alumni players.
“Of all the things we try to do as an organization, the scholarship program really stands out,” LYSBA officer John Pope said. “Since we started awarding scholarships in 2019, we’ve provided $30,000 to our former players to help with college or trade school.”
Pope says players from the softball arm of the organization will become eligible for scholarships following the 2025 season,
Beginning this season the scholarships are awarded as the LYSBA Dawson Scholarships in recognition of Fred and Karen Dawson. The couple were instrumental in creating as well as donating to the scholarship program.
