The application deadline for Ride of Your Life scholarships is fast approaching. South Carolina State Fair released a statement on Thursday, March 6 reminding eligible high school seniors to apply by March 15, 2025.
The scholarship program, now in its 28th year, allocates over $500,000 annually in college scholarships to South Carolina high school seniors. Applications can be submitted online at scstatefair.org/scholarships.
This year, the South Carolina State Fair is expanding its scholarship program with the help of a $37,000 donation from Circle K stores and EMC Tickets. This contribution will allow the fair to increase the number of scholarships awarded from 50 to 53.
“Education is at the heart of our mission at the South Carolina State Fair, and we are honored to support students in their journey toward higher learning,” said Nancy Smith, general manager of the South Carolina State Fair. “Thanks to the generosity of Circle K and EMC Tickets, we’re able to expand our scholarships and provide even more opportunities for South Carolina’s students. With the March 15 deadline approaching, we encourage all eligible high school seniors to apply.”
Since its inception in 1997, the Ride of Your Life Scholarship program has awarded more than $5 million to South Carolina students.
This year, the scholarships will award $10,000 each to 53 high school seniors, with funds paid out in $2,500 increments over four years for students pursuing four-year degrees. Students pursuing two-year degrees will receive $2,500 per year for two years. The funds can be used for tuition or other educational expenses such as textbooks, computers, or on-campus housing at South Carolina universities, colleges, or institutions.
Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and enroll in at least 30 credit hours per academic year to continue receiving funding. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, communication skills, and financial need.
For more information or to apply, visit scstatefair.org/scholarships or contact Betsy Cooper at betsyc@scstatefair.org or 803-799-3387, ext. 110.
The South Carolina State Fair will be held from October 8-19, 2025.
