Since the establishment of the scholarship in 2021, the Dean B. Albritton Memorial Scholarship has benefited graduating seniors in Montgomery, Elmore and Autauga counties.  It was established with Central Alabama Community Foundation in Montgomery.
Sophie Rebekah Creamer, of Tallassee accepted the Dean B. Albritton Memorial Scholarship from the grandchildren of Dean and the Rev. Walter Albritton at First Methodist Church of Wetumpka. About 100 friends of the Albrittons gathered at the church fellowship hall May 8 for a dinner to celebrate the growth of the scholarship so that three scholarships could be awarded this spring. Presenting the scholarship to Sophie were Dean and Walter’s grandchildren, Sarah Albritton Dell’Aria and Josh Albritton. Sophie is a senior at Ezekiel Academy in Montgomery where she is home schooled and plans to attend Jacksonville State University to study nursing.  She is the daughter of Rev. Joe and Jessica Creamer.
Colin Daniel Dye of Montgomery admired the scholarship certificate that he received from the Albritton grandchildren Sarah Albritton Dell’Aria and Josh Albritton. Colin, son of Daniel and Andrea Dye of Montgomery, will apply his Dean Albritton Scholarship at Auburn University where he plans to study biomedical science in premed. Colin attends LAMP Academy Magnet Program in Montgomery.
Gracie Hope Arnold made a video acceptance of her Dean Albritton Memorial Scholarship Thursday night at Wetumpka Methodist Church. Gracie, a senior at Wetumpka High School, was unable to attend the scholarship awards banquet.  She plans to attend Troy University and study theater.  Gracie was performing in a play Thursday night.
Tim Albritton, son, of Dean and Walter Albritton, announced scholarship recipients at Thursday night’s awards celebration at First Methodist Church in Wetumpka.   Dean Albritton’s family annually selects the person to whom the scholarship is awarded. Family members serving currently on the committee are Matt Albritton, Tim Albritton, Steve Albritton, Sarah Albritton, Dell’Aria, Josh Albritton, John Albritton and the Rev. Walter Albritton.
Special thanks to the staff of Mercy House, a ministry of New Walk of Life Church in Montgomery, for catering the meal and to the youth of Wetumpka First Methodist for serving the meal. Thanks to First Methodist Church for hosting the dinner.  Rev. Matt Albritton is pastor of the church.
