HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2025. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
Alexandria Hant, a senior at The Woodlands High School, is the sixth Senior Scholarship recipient from the Class of 2025. The Woodlands High School is part of the Conroe Independent School District.
Hant is Captain of The Woodlands High School Speech and Debate Team. It is an area where she shines, and she will continue to be active in debate as she attends Dartmouth College, pursuing a degree in Government and Journalism in the fall.
She serves as President of the national nonprofit organization Women in Debate, which Hant says “Raised $100,000 in debate camp scholarships for low-income, gender minority debaters.” The organization also has a mentorship program, which cultivates a love of debate among young women.
Some of Hant’s additional activities include presiding over her school’s chapter of the National Honor Society. She has also worked on volunteer projects to collect bilingual books for the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation as well as supplies for the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Hant has also served as a liaison for low-income families, connecting them with legal help at discounted or pro bono rates.
Hant represented Texas at the American Legion Auxillary’s Girls State, for which she received House of Representatives Commendations from Congressmen Luttrell (TX-08) and Crenshaw (TX-02).
