A local high school student has been award a major bursary from the Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario. Rachel Jennings from Deep River, who is studying Kinesiology at Dalhousie University has received a $3,000 Scholarship. The organization is divided into zones across the province and recipients were determined based on the number of applicants and specific eligibility criteria, including the student’s leadership skills, volunteer experience, and commitment to making a difference in their communities.
hrough its MROO Scholarship Program, MROO (Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario) has awarded $134,000 in student scholarships distributed to 44 exceptional students across the province. The scholarships will support recipients in their post-secondary studies.
Municipal Retirees Organization of Ontario (MROO) was created as a not-for-profit corporation in 1977. MROO speaks on behalf of all Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) pensioners and provides services to 35,000 + members. MROO is the largest OMERS retiree organization and the only one with membership open to retirees from all walks of local government life.
