Desert Theatricals, a Coachella Valley theater company, is inspiring the next generation of performers through its youth theater program. In addition to staging professional-level productions, the organization is offering $2,500 scholarships to promising young actors, helping them pursue their dreams in the arts. Founded in 2019 in partnership with the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory Foundation, the program has grown with support from the Richard Brook Foundation and the Anderson Children’s Foundation. Led by directors Josh Carr and Ray Limon, Desert Theatricals provides a platform for young talent to shine through productions featuring orchestrated tracks, full costumes, and professional sets. Scholarship recipients express gratitude for the financial assistance, which helps fund their college education and acting aspirations. "It gives me the support I need to pursue my career," one recipient shared, adding that the program offers not only practical theater experience but also valuable lessons in professionalism and collaboration. Eligible students must participate in a Desert Theatricals production and apply through their website, DT-foundation.org. These scholarships aim to propel local talent from the stage of the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater to opportunities across the nation.
