GREENVILLE, Pitt County — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and a special brunch held Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Pitt Greenville Airport brought the community together to raise awareness and support survivors.
The event, hosted by Laneika B. Enterprises, featured powerful speakers who shared their personal stories of survival and resilience. A key moment of the brunch was the presentation of a $500 scholarship to a survivor, part of the organization’s ongoing mission to empower those rebuilding their lives after abuse.
Laneika Benbou-Brewington, CEO and founder of Laneika B. Enterprises and a survivor herself, said her own experience inspired her to create the scholarship program.
“I’m a survivor, so being able to have that opportunity to have a scholarship has been tremendous for my daughter who is in school,” she said. “Being able to have that scholarship has helped so that by the time she graduates next year, she will be debt free.”
