DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – The Dothan Kiwanis Club gave over 5,000 in scholarships to high school and college students during its annual scholarship ceremony.
Recipients and their families gathered at the Dothan Country Club to be recognized for their accomplishments.
All seven recipients are involved in student-led leadership and service organizations, like Key Club and Circle K International, or are plan to major in agri-science.
Regan Bull- Circle K, Enterprise State Community College $1,000
Christian Carlos- Circle K, Enterprise State Community College $1,000
Hunter Skasick- Key Club, Cottonwood High School $1,000
Serenity Williams- Key Club, Enterprise High School $750
Arina My Ai Thai- Key Club, Straughn High School $750
Madelyn Dowling – Key Club, Eufaula High School $750
Jave’ Williams, Key Club, Eufaula High School $500
All near and dear to Dr. Coy Poitvent’s heart, who was the Kiwanis club president in the early 1960s and served on the district board as this division’s Lt. Governor.
“It’s just a great honor to give these recipients this because we know they are going to utilize it as an opportunity to take them further in their education, said Bobby Landwehr, president, Dothan Kiwanis Club.
Two of the Kiwanis club members were also awarded the George Hickson award, which is a highly coveted award among members.
