East Central University and the City of Ada continue their collaboration with the popular Ada Student Attraction Program Scholarship for new and returning ECU students.
Last year, the partnership allotted $100,000 to the scholarship due to the economic impact ECU has on the community.
In response to the program’s success, this year’s allotment has increased to $150,000. The increase will enable more students to apply for the scholarship, designed to benefit those who live and work in the Ada community.
“We are thankful to have such a strong partnership with the City of Ada,” said ECU President Wendell Godwin. “Through the ASAP Scholarship, this partnership will not only benefit the students at ECU but the community as a whole.”
With the ASAP Scholarship, a qualifying student will receive up to $3,500 ($1,000 for tuition and $750 for housing for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters).
Requirements for the scholarship include:
First Time ECU Students (Freshman or Transfer). International Students and Returning and Current ECU students aren’t eligible.
Must be enrolled full-time which is at least 12 credit hours for undergraduate students and 9 credit hours for graduate students.
Must live on campus in the residence hall.
Must have a job and work at least 10 hours per week.
Scholarships will be awarded closer to the start of the Fall 2024 semester and ECU will confirm students who meet these conditions before the scholarship is awarded.
“The ASAP has proven to bring numerous benefits to the Ada community, including boosting the tax base, creating a talent pipeline, and increasing enrollment at East Central University,” said Ada Jobs Foundation Interim President and CEO, Peggy Saunkeah. “ECU’s significant contribution to the local economy and renowned programs play a vital role in Ada’s development, fostering better employment prospects and driving economic progress. Ada Jobs Foundation proudly supports the second-year funding of ASAP with Prop 2 funds designated for economic development.”
