Like father, like son. RJ Day, the son of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, is hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps and play football at the collegiate level and maybe beyond.
Only a sophomore, the younger Day is starting to pick up some steam in his recruitment. Already holding offers from seven different programs, Day has just picked up his eighth offer, this time from Bowling Green and new head coach Eddie George. Of course, George, a former Buckeye great and 1995 Heisman Trophy winner, has stayed close to the program and is close with Ryan Day. It only makes sense to make a connection with RJ as early as possible, who holds offers from Akron, Miami (OH), Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Boston College, and the Falcon’s biggest rival, Toledo.
Day shared the news via his personal X (formerly Twitter) account.
Day does not currently have a ranking as a sophomore. As a 16-year-old, he comes in at 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, with room to grow. He has been the starting varsity quarterback for St. Francis DeSales High School for the past two seasons and is already the all-time passing leader in school history. In his freshman year at DeSales, Day threw for 1,568 yards and 15 touchdowns. His sophomore season saw him throw for 1,425 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’ll only add to those totals with two years left to play.
The question remains: Will Dad offer the kid a scholarship? Probably so, but RJ will have a bit more work to do to earn it.
