To celebrate and honor the legacy of Dr. Edwin B. Henderson, the “Black grandfather of basketball,” the Washington Wizards is awarding scholarships to high school seniors in the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. To apply, students should submit a 350-word essay describing their passions and goals for the future and one of the biggest challenges they face in pursuing it. The deadline is February 1. All students who submit an essay fitting the criteria will receive two complimentary tickets to a select Wizards home game. For more information, please click here.
