MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A hefty amount in scholarship funds will help further the studies of graduating high school seniors.
The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) has announced 37 winners of the 2025 Montgomery Public Schools Legacy Scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors from each of the eight Montgomery public high schools. Two to seven winners were selected from each high school, with the number of scholarships available at a given school being determined by the size of the graduating class.
“We are excited to support these extraordinary young people who have distinguished themselves at their schools,” said EJI director Bryan Stevenson. “Area students need to be supported, encouraged, and affirmed when they work hard and strive to achieve greatness.”
This year’s legacy scholar recipients were selected based on essays that reflect on the students’ experience visiting EJI’s Freedom Monument Sculpture Park or their efforts at school.

Each scholarship winner received $10,000 towards their respective studies.
