Central Arkansas Development Council presented 11 Single Parent
Scholarships at an award ceremony recently at the Pine Valley Senior Center.
The 2010 Columbia County recipients were Regina Davis, Phaedra Love, Jelissia Vaughn, Tadashi Green, Chandra T. Jackson, Kimberly Johnson, Makayla Shaw, Jamie Carwile, Malaysia Sharp, Amy May and Tonya Christopher.
The Single Parent Scholarship program provides single parents opportunities to further their higher education and skills to help make them more self-sufficient.
Single Parent Scholarships are used to remove the barriers often associated with attending college, such as child care, car repair, fuel, books and funding not covered by other sources.
A higher education is a key component for an individual’s success. CADC is committed to ensuring that all persons of society are valued and encouraged to accomplish their scholarship fund program.
