REV, the local telecommunications provider based in Gonzales, announced the expansion and opening of its academic scholarship application for graduating high school seniors.
Seniors residing in the company’s service regions can apply online prior to March 26, according to a REV news release.
Criteria for the scholarship includes beings a REV residential customer, residing in the company’s service area, as well as grades, test scores, financial need, demonstrated leadership and community involvement. Applicants also must submit an essay.
“As our company celebrates 90 years of service, we are excited to expand the scholarship program this year to all of our service regions, recognizing more students for their academic achievements,” REV CEO Josh Descant said in the announcement. “REV remains committed to supporting education in the communities we serve and investing in the next generation of leaders – especially through this generations-spanning scholarship program.”
The program provides financial assistance to cover college expenses, including tuition, room and board and books.
“The students we meet every year never cease to amaze members of our selection committee – moving our team with their impressive dedication to academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and community involvement,” REV CFO Peter Louviere said in the release. “Further, it’s an incredible joy when we get the chance to witness many of these students returning home and investing back into their local communities after college graduation.”
The company’s scholarship program dates back to 1984 and has awarded 237 scholarships totaling $970,000, per the release.
