The Cape Henlopen Elks Scholarship Committee recently announced its award recipients for 2024.
Two Sussex Technical High School students received $1,500 awards. Nayeli Diaz-Rodelo just passed her cosmetology state board and plans to apply to the Hair Academy in Newark. Mason Hudson studied automotive technologies and earned ASE certifications in brakes, suspension and steering, engine performance and general maintenance.  He plans to attend Delaware Tech and earn an associate degree in automotive technology.
Sussex Central High School graduates who received $1,500 scholarship awards are: Hillary Barrueta Rubio, who plans to attend Delaware Technical Community College to study diagnostic sonography, and Savannah Yosko, who plans to attend Delaware Tech to study radiologic technology
Cape Henlopen High School graduates who received a $2,500 awards are Ryon Larrimore and McKenna Landis. Larrimore plans to attend Polytech Adult Education to become a diesel tech, working on bigger trucks and eventually becoming a mobile roadside technician. Landis plans to start her education to become an esthetician this September at the Delaware Learning Institute of Cosmetology.
Mara Lobley of the Cape Henlopen High School JROTC Program received a $1,000 scholarship. She will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University and plans to study medicine with the goal of becoming a medical doctor.
Delmarva Christian High School graduate Brenda Silva received a scholarship to go toward studies in the culinary arts program at Atlanta Technical College.
