The Elmore Bolling Initiative (TEBI) has announced two college scholarship opportunities for Lowndes County high school students: The Jenny Fund Scholarship and The TEBI Scholarship.
Both scholarships reflect TEBI’s commitment to improving equity for young Lowndes County scholars so they can thrive in their educational journeys.
The Jenny Fund is an educational equity fund that provides college scholarships to deserving, under-resourced students and was established by TEBI board member, Jenny Weisz. It is administered by the nonprofit, 10,000 Degrees, and is available to students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the areas of teaching, medical or mental health or environmental sustainability.
“Jenny was a cherished member of the TEBI board of directors who died in 2024,” said Josephine Bolling McCall, founder and president of TEBI. “She was a lifelong advocate for children and created The Jenny Fund in her will. We are honored that Jenny specified students from Lowndes County as one of the groups given priority consideration for scholarships awarded by The Jenny Fund.”
To qualify for The Jenny Fund Scholarship, students must be residents of Lowndes County, graduating from Central High or Calhoun High School. There is no grade point average (GPA) or standardized test requirement for the scholarship.
Jenny Fund Scholarships are renewable and can cover up to four years of tuition. The priority deadline to apply is March 2.
To start an application, (1) contact TEBI via bollinginitiative.org/our-impact/scholarship for a letter of recommendation and (2) visit 10000degrees.org/scholarships and select “The Jenny Fund”.
“This scholarship expresses Jenny’s dedication to The Elmore Bolling Initiative and creates pathways for Lowndes County students to achieve sustainable success in higher education,” said McCall.
