JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A head-on collision with a wrong-way driver in Hastings resulted in now UNF freshman Jordan Beverly suffering a traumatic brain injury and the loss of her right leg below the knee.
“Unfortunately, that kicked me out of high school for all four years, so I never got to have my special high school moment,” Beverly said. “But I did learn that high school is irrelevant when I can help my community.”

Despite these challenges, she has persevered, excelling in her studies and graduating from Palatka High School. She is now pursuing a career in teaching.
Beverly is one of the proud recipients of the Farah & Farah Empowering Greatness Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to five deserving Florida students to receive two years’ worth of tuition to a Florida college, university or trade school.

The scholarship from Farah & Farah helps her get through school and pay for all the expenses she continues to face.
“I think it’s great personally because I know it’s helping me a lot,” Beverly shared. “I don’t have a bunch of finances, and then if I have finances, that needs to be put away for my recovery and prosthetics… and my problems. This scholarship is going to help me in the future.”
Beverly’s hard work and dedication are already paying off, as she has achieved all A’s and one B in her first semester at UNF.
