Carlos Guillermo Aguirre Aguilar, president of the Federation of Restaurants of Yucatán, reported that he is carrying out a gastronomic tour of various European countries to promote and exhibit the culinary art of our state and maintain agreements with several groups and institutions, as he has already done in Portugal, where scholarships will be granted to Yucatecan students.
Aguirre Aguilar stated that he had visited Portugal, where he signed agreements with educational institutions that offered scholarships to Yucatecan students.
It is about supporting young people who have finished high school and who have begun to study a culinary career and have not been able to finish due to different circumstances.
They would be supported to complete a technical degree in Portugal but to prove that they have completed their secondary school and that they are 18 years old.
He also declared that they can support at least 10 local students, whose scholarships will include their stay in Portugal, food, and lodging, but in the case of their transportation, the private and public initiatives would have to support them, so awareness must be raised among the local business community to contribute in this important project.
Aguirre said that, in Spain, he made a presentation on Yucatecan culinary art, cooking together with chefs from that country, with whom he will exchange knowledge and experiences on the subject.
Then he will travel to other countries such as Germany and France, where he will expose local gastronomy, as a way to promote in Europe what the gastronomy of our region and at the same time invite Europeans to visit the State.
He considered that after the European tour, it is expected that tourists from the countries he visits will soon come to see what Yucatan and Valladolid have to offer.
In his opinion, the importance of Yucatecan gastronomy must be showcased in European countries, as part of the promotion to motivate European tourists to come to land of the Mayab, and increase the tourist flow in the region in the short term.
