SWANSEA — Citizens for Citizens Inc. recently held their Annual Meeting at the Venus DeMilo restaurant. According to a community announcement, CFC is celebrating its 60th anniversary as Greater Fall River and Taunton’s Community Action Agency.
During the 2024-2025 Program Year, CFC assisted over 30,000 individuals through various programs, including Energy Assistance, Early Childhood Education, and Food Security.
At the meeting, the CFC Board recognized former state Rep. Patricia Haddad with the Board of Directors’ Legislative Award for her years of work in the State House. Haddad advocated for funding for programs that CFC administers, such as Family Planning and Fuel Assistance.
Twins Brooke and Madison Tabicas received CFC’s Edward “Jud” Sullivan Scholarship, awarded to graduating high school students who participated in CFC’s early education programs. Both have excelled in academics and athletics at Durfee High School after being students in the After School Day Care program.
Community Service Presentations were made to Debbie and Richard Danner, Lindsay Munroe, and retired CFC employee Louise Lemay. Gerry Dupone of Edible Creations received the Hubert H. Humphrey Business Award for his support of the food pantry operations. Executive Director Liz Berube acknowledged the Board of Directors for their guidance and dedication to CFC’s mission to help those facing poverty.
CFC stated they are grateful for Board President Maria Ferreira-Bedard and all CFC Board members for their support.
