SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A GoFundMe has been created for a scholarship fund in honor of the woman who was killed last week while riding her bike in Smithfield.
25-year-old Aliana Ciacciarelli died after being hit by a tractor-trailer on Pleasant View Avenue.
According to officials, Ciacciarelli was riding her bike when she fell off.
Police have not said if there will be any charges for the operator of the vehicle, who did leave the scene, but has since been identified.
In the GoFundMe, her sister wrote that her family would like to create a scholarship in her name, as Providence College is set to open their first nursing program in early 2025.
The GoFundMe stated that Ciacciarelli loved being a nurse, as it was the perfect profession for her, and she had recently just started working at Fatima Hospital per diem to work alongside her sister.
“She is so caring, thoughtful, and always put everyone before herself,” stated the GoFundMe.
“She was an extremely hard worker, compassionate and loved her patients and coworkers. She touched the lives of so many people, and unfortunately was taken away from us way too soon,” stated the GoFundMe.
So far, over $62,000 has been raised.
Services for Ciacciarelli will be held on Wednesday, July 10 at St. Philip’s Church in Greenville.
Police are still actively investigating the incident.
