FERGUS – Two students from Fergus are recipients of the Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario (MROO) scholarships.
The organization awarded $100,000 in student scholarships distributed to over 30 exceptional students across the province.
Twins Eden and Elijah McQueen, from Fergus, were each awarded $3,000 to help with their university studies. Eden is studying political science at McMaster University and twin brother Elijah is studying forest bioeconomy at the University of British Columbia.
The twins’ grandfather, Jim McQueen, is a long-standing MROO member. Two students from Guelph, Jacob Morris and Nicole Franko, were also awarded $3,000 MROO scholarships.
All scholarship recipients are family members of current MROO members.
“These students were chosen based on their academic achievements and efforts to give back to their communities,” said MROO president Keith Robicheau.
“MROO’s mission is to support our members and their families and improve the lives of all Canadians. We hope these scholarships will support each recipient in their studies and help them to achieve their academic and future career goals.”
