If you graduated from high school five or more years prior to your intended enrollment date, Georgia Southern considers you a nontraditional student. Learn more about our nontraditional admission requirements.
Note: The Georgia Southern University Office of Undergraduate Admissions will only maintain a record of nonenrolling student test scores and transcripts for five years. Admission applications and fees are kept active for one year. After one year, students must reapply for consideration.
After submitting your first-year application, send your high school transcript! We can make admission decisions using unofficial transcripts, or they can be sent by your high school.
In processing transcripts, the Office of Admissions recalculates GPAs based on the University System of Georgia’s Required High School Curriculum. Consequently, your GPA may appear lower than expected as we do not include classes such as art, drama or theater in our calculations.
Georgia Southern encourages students to maintain a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher in the 17 Required High School Curriculum specified courses for admission purposes. However, all applicants, regardless of GPA, will undergo evaluation for admission.
To ensure you are on track to complete the Required High School Curriculum, we must review a list of all courses you are taking during your senior year of high school if you are still enrolled. You can provide this information on your transcript, on your admission application or by completing a short form.
If you have a high school GPA of less than 3.2, you should submit SAT or ACT scores along with your official high school transcript for admission consideration. You must submit official SAT or ACT scores to Georgia Southern directly from the testing agency.
First-year students with a high school GPA of 3.2 or higher who apply to Georgia Southern through the summer 2026 semester are eligible for admission without an ACT or SAT score.
Still need to take the SAT or ACT? Access available test dates with the College Board or ACT. We also offer the ACT-On Campus at the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses for students who have already applied to Georgia Southern. Learn more and register with Testing Services. Georgia Southern’s SAT and ACT codes are:
Georgia Southern would like students to have the following test scores — however, we evaluate all applicants regardless of test scores.
Note: We will utilize your highest subtest scores from all scores received to evaluate your application. If you submit scores and then take the test again, you may submit the new scores for us to review. We will reassess your file and make a new decision based on the updated scores.
Once you have applied and submitted all application materials, check your undergraduate admissions status. This status reflects what documents we have in our records at that exact moment.
We post all admission decisions online, enabling you to know your acceptance status without needing to wait for a letter.
At Georgia Southern, we admit spring, summer and fall term applicants on a rolling basis starting in September. We notify students who will not be admitted beginning in November.
Interested in attending Georgia Southern at our Liberty campus, a small, non-residential campus in Hinesville, Georgia geared toward commuters? The Office of Admissions can admit any incoming first-year student to the Liberty campus as long as they have earned a high school diploma.
However, if admitted without meeting the admission criteria for the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses, students must complete 30 or more credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and address any deficiencies in the Required High School Curriculum before transitioning to the Statesboro or Armstrong campuses.
Are you planning to apply as a dual enrollment, homeschool or GED student? In addition to Georgia Southern’s standard first-year admission requirements, keep the following in mind for your application:
If you have participated in another institution’s dual enrollment program while in high school, you must send official transcripts from each college, even if the courses are on your high school transcript. We will not award earned college credit without these transcripts. Additionally, failure to submit these transcripts could result in delays in financial aid or your ability to alter your schedule once enrolled at Georgia Southern.
If you are a current dual enrollment student at Georgia Southern and want to continue as a first-year student, learn more about staying at Georgia Southern.
Interested in participating in taking courses at Georgia Southern as a high school student? Review dual enrollment eligibility requirements.
As a student from an accredited homeschool program, you must apply to and meet first-year admission criteria for Georgia Southern.
If you’re graduating from a nonaccredited homeschool or high school, you must still meet Georgia Southern’s first-year admission requirements. However, you can demonstrate your graduation and completion of the Required High School Curriculum in alternative ways, such as through a course portfolio. For further details, contact your Admissions Counselor.
