OLEAN — Five area graduates recently received alumni scholarship awards from funds at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Madison Hitchcock and Preston Conner received the Olean High School Alumni Association Scholarship.
The scholarship, $1,000 per year for up to four years, is for graduating seniors of OHS attending a post-secondary institution. Applications are reviewed by the OHS Alumni Association Scholarship Committee, which recommends the recipients.
Hitchcock will begin studying psychology at SUNY Fredonia. Conner plans to study criminal justice at Hilbert College.
Brooke J. English received the Otto/Otto-Eldred Alumni Scholarship for $2,500.
The Otto-Eldred Alumni Scholarship is given annually to Otto-Eldred High School graduating seniors who have maintained at least a 2.75 GPA and received acceptance to, preferably, a two-year college or a four-year program.
English will study biology at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Bradley Bergstrom and Caden Miller each received the Hinsdale Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship for $1,500.
This scholarship established by the Hinsdale Alumni Association, $1,500 each this year, is for a graduating senior of Hinsdale Central School. Recipients must have a grade average of 80% or higher, demonstrate good citizenship and character and have definite educational goals.
Bergstrom will attend St. Bonaventure University to study business management. Miller plans to study meteorology/water resources at SUNY Brockport.
