Five Okaloosa County JROTC cadets were awarded scholarships by the Air and Space Forces Association (AFA) Eglin Chapter Education Foundation during a reception at the Air Force Armament Museum on Eglin Air Force Base on April 15.
The scholarship recipients are Cadet Penelope Ashby (Niceville High School), Cadet Layth Atrakchi (Choctawhatchee High School), Cadet Chriscelle Pardillo (Fort Walton Beach High School), Cadet Owen Clift (Niceville High School), and Cadet Lincoln Dooley (Niceville High School).
Each student received a scholarship named in honor of a military figure or donor:

“These cadets exemplify the values of leadership, service, and excellence that define our JROTC programs,” Okaloosa County Superintendent Marcus Chambers said in a statement. “We are incredibly proud of their achievements and thankful to the Air and Space Forces Association Eglin Chapter for investing in their futures.”
The cadets represent JROTC programs at Choctawhatchee, Fort Walton Beach, and Niceville High Schools. According to the school district, the AFA Eglin Chapter has supported regional cadets through scholarships and other educational initiatives.
The Okaloosa County School District continues to support JROTC programs, which officials say play a role in student leadership development and public service.
