PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -There was some local activity on National Signing Day, Wednesday. That includes two signings at Arnold High School. Those two added to the list of nine signings that took place at beginning of the early signing period last month. So Jayden Reyes and Lincoln Guynn helping to make this a record class for Arnold in terms of signings in the first half of a school year. Jayden Reyes is a softball player who signed with Delta State University, a Division Two program in Cleveland, Mississippi. Reyes plays third base for the Marlins, and heading into her senior season, has a career batting average of .355, she’s totaled 113 hits and 113 RBI. Lincoln Guynn is a soccer player for the Marlins, into the early part of his senior season. He signed today with the University of Tennessee Southern, in Pulaski, Tennessee, about 90 minutes south of Nashville. Guynn a part of a lot of wins for the Marlins already and last year helped the Marlins to a 5A state championship. More on these two from Arnold A.D. and softball head coach Rick Green. ”Jayden, boy what a power hitter. The last two years she’s been near the top or at the top of 4A softball in RBI. And that’s why she’s in the four-hole. We set the plate for her. And so she’s done a phenomenal job. Lincoln, a great soccer player. He’s played on our football team, like I said a multiple sport athlete. If you look in the dictionary under student-athlete you’ll probably find a picture of him there. He’s a great kid. They’re going to be very successful in life. Now, like I said before they’re probably not going to make a living playing sports, but by playing sports they’re going to find a way to make a living.”
Meanwhile over at Mosley Wednesday afternoon, in the school’s Media Center, three more signings. A good crowd of family, friends, classmates, teachers and coaches on hand to watch the festivities. The first signee, Parker McDaniel, a pitcher on Doug Lee’s baseball team, heading into his senior season this coming semester. McDaniel signing with Melvin Christian College, an NAIA school over in Pace, Florida. Next up came Raedyn Bruens, a three-star, 6-4, 241-pound edge rusher for coach Whiddon’s football team, Bruens signing with Rutgers University in New Jersey, so he’s bound for Division One ball in the Big Ten! And another D-1 football signee there, Lo’Kavion Jackson, another three star who like Bruens played on both sides of the ball, d-b and running back. He signed with Mississippi State, the Bulldogs indicating they will use Lo’Kavion at safety. A big day at Mosley indeed, says head football coach Tommy Joe Whiddon, who’s watched his two football stars develop over the years. ”Man just so happy for both of these guys. Just to see how hard that they worked you know behind the scenes. Everybody’s seeing the players that they are, obviously very talented guys. But the amount of work and the dedication, the process just getting to that point. And also too it’s both their childhood dreams to be in this situation. So it’s always a fun thing to be a part of. So again just really happy for both guys and obviously we will be cheering for them and hope that they have the most success they possibly can.”
