Flathead Electric Cooperative announces the first of several scholarship opportunities open to seniors graduating from accredited high schools in the Co-op’s service area, graduating homeschool students and current undergraduate college students. These scholarships are provided by Basin Electric Power Cooperative and the Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association, industry organizations associated with Flathead Electric Cooperative.
Basin Electric Power Cooperative awards one $1,000 scholarship each year to a Flathead Electric Cooperative member’s dependent. Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association awards one $500 scholarship to a regional electric cooperative member’s dependent. Applicants only need to fill out one online application to be considered for both awards.
Academic strength, including courses, GPA, and national testing scores, accounts for 20% of the criteria for scholarship judging. Another 20% is based on activities in school and the community, awards and honors. Student employment, volunteerism and community service are also 20%. The final 40% is represented by a personal statement.
To be eligible, the applicant or their parent/guardian must be a member of Flathead Electric Cooperative. In addition, the applicant must be graduating from high school in spring 2025 or currently attending an undergraduate college. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 15, 2025. Awards will be announced in the spring of 2025.
