The Floyd County Community Foundation recently awarded Betsy Layne High School students Katelyn Nichole Caudill, Peyton Skylar Akers, Jada Lynn Reynolds and Janet Alexia Williams with $1,000 scholarships each.

The Floyd County Community Foundation recently awarded Betsy Layne High School students Katelyn Nichole Caudill, Peyton Skylar Akers, Jada Lynn Reynolds and Janet Alexia Williams with $1,000 scholarships each.
The Floyd County Community Foundation has announced in a statement it has awarded scholarships totaling $4,000 to Betsy Lane High School seniors during their recent awards ceremony. The scholarships were funded by the Dr. Bertee (Bert T.) and Mrs. Retta Faye (Jett) Adkins Scholarship fund, advised by the Floyd County Community Foundation and held at the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky.
At the awards ceremony, Alicia Dawson, Floyd County Community Foundation board member, presented scholarships to four students:
$1,000 — Katelyn Nichole Caudill
$1,000 — Peyton Skylar Akers
$1,000 — Jada Lynn Reynolds
$1,000 — Janet Alexia Williams
The Floyd County Community Foundation supports efforts that build long-term capacity towards improving the quality of life in Floyd County, Kentucky, and addresses the immediate needs of the community, especially the most disadvantaged, the statement said.
The Floyd County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky — an accredited community foundation serving 54 counties in Southeast Kentucky. Floyd County Community Foundation board members include Ellen Harris, chair, John Rosenberg, vice-chair, Missy Allen, Joe Campbell, Rhonda Clark, Misha Curnutte, Alicia Dawson, Tim Hatfield, Surehka Maddiwar, Evan Smith, Jim Stewart and Kathy Stumbo.
