With the countdown to the Flying Pig Marathon in full swing, several inspiring students were honored for their contributions to the community.
On Wednesday, Pig Works, the parent organization of the Flying Pig Marathon, awarded 14 scholarships to high school track and cross country athletes at its annual Scholarship Breakfast at Music Hall.
The annual scholarships totaled $20,000 and were awarded equally to male and female students who demonstrated dedication, teamwork and community service.

The Spirit of the Flying Pig award was also presented to the Flying Pig Medical Team on Wednesday, led by UC Health’s Dr. Jon Divine.
“This is the second year we have been able to host the scholarship breakfast event,” said Iris Simpson Bush, CEO of Pig Works. “Because of the generosity of the Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation, we were able increase the number of student athletes who will benefit from these awards.”
