Foothill Family, a Pasadena-based social services organization, has announced the creation of the Helen Morran-Wolf Educational Scholarship, honoring their former CEO who led the agency for over two decades. The scholarship will support clients and their family members pursuing higher education or vocational training opportunities.
The newly established fund will award up to $5,000 each to 10 students annually, the organization said in a statement. Recipients must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited institution, demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA.
“Helen Morran-Wolf and her husband, Edward Wolf, have dedicated their lives to uplifting others, creating a legacy of generosity that extends far beyond their own contributions,” said Steve Allen, Foothill Family CEO.
Allen emphasized how their commitment to service has influenced not only the organization but also values passed down through generations of the Morran-Wolf family. He described their dedication as more than an individual passion but rather a family tradition that will continue to inspire and impact lives for years to come.
Morran-Wolf served as CEO for 21 years, during which time the organization expanded from a single office to a network of family centers. Under her leadership, Foothill Family grew to serve more than 20,000 individuals annually throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
Her tenure was marked by securing significant grants and partnerships while maintaining a focus on early intervention and community support. She was particularly dedicated to programs supporting teen parents and their babies during times of profound emotional and practical need through Foothill’s Teen Family Services program.
Her values of kindness, courage, and service continue to inspire the work of Foothill Family today.
“Helen and I love Foothill Family and the community it serves so well,” Edward Wolf said. “This scholarship was created to honor them and as a celebration of Helen’s long career devoted to helping them.”
Foothill Family has provided mental health and social services since 1926, offering school-based counseling, early childhood development programs, and support services for families facing adversity. Their programs include child abuse and domestic violence prevention, trauma recovery therapy, and services for pregnant and parenting teens. The scholarship is a testament to this enduring mission.
The scholarship, funded through a generous legacy gift from the Morran-Wolf/Wolf Family, reflects their belief in education as a crucial step toward building brighter futures. Applications, including two supporting statements, must be submitted by April 1. Letters of recommendation are also due by this date. Award decisions will be announced by May 1.
Funds may be used for tuition, on-campus room and board, books, supplies, transportation, and other school-related expenses, with payments made directly to the institution.
