Foothill Family celebrated the inaugural Helen Morran-Wolf Educational Scholarship Award Luncheon on June 25 at The Shakespeare Club of Pasadena, awarding scholarships to ten students pursuing higher education across California.
Funded by a legacy gift from Edward Wolf and the late Helen Morran-Wolf, the scholarship provides up to $5,000 per student to cover tuition, books, supplies, transportation and other school-related expenses. The program honors Morran-Wolf’s 21-year tenure as CEO of Foothill Family, during which she expanded the organization’s reach throughout the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys.
“This scholarship is about more than financial support,” said Edward Wolf. “It’s about believing in someone’s potential and giving them the encouragement to keep going. Helen spent her career making sure people felt seen, supported, and valued. This program is a continuation of that legacy.”
The event drew 40 guests, including members of the Wolf family—Edward Wolf, daughter Vanessa Wolf Alexander and son-in-law Matthew Alexander—alongside scholarship recipients, their families and Foothill Family leadership.
“Helen and Edward’s generosity continues to shape our mission and the lives of those we serve,” said Steve Allen, CEO of Foothill Family. “These scholarships represent opportunity, hope, and the belief that with support, anything is possible. We’re honored to walk alongside these students as they pursue their dreams.”
The scholarship recipients will attend institutions including Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Sacramento, Mount Saint Mary’s University, Pasadena City College and UC Riverside. Students were selected for their academic achievement, resilience and commitment to community, and each was honored with a Certificate of Achievement.
Foothill Family’s Director of School-Based Services Meg Bennett and Director of Development Lindsey Lansburgh also spoke at the luncheon, sharing reflections on the selection process and the inspiring stories behind each application.
The Helen Morran-Wolf Educational Scholarship reflects Foothill Family’s broader mission to empower children and families through mental health and social services. Since 1926, the nonprofit organization has provided school-based counseling, early childhood development programs and support services including trauma recovery, domestic violence prevention and care for pregnant and parenting teens.
