LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The Forks and Corks event brought together community members Thursday evening to support educational opportunities for local students while enjoying food and wine pairings at the Waterfront Cargill Room.
The event, organized by the Gemütlichkeit Foundation, raised funds for scholarships benefiting students from 13 area schools. This year’s fundraiser will provide 14 scholarships of $1,000 each to local high school students and the Miss La Crosse Oktoberfest.
“We’re giving 14 scholarships this year at $1,000 a piece to area high schools and the Miss La Crosse Oktoberfest,” said Douglas Kratt, co-chair for Forks and Corks 2025. “Next year, because of these fund raisers, we’re going to add one more high school to the mix. And then it will also help out with other projects that can do good for the La Crosse area.”
One of the event’s highlights included the official reveal of the 2025 Oktoberfest Button, giving attendees an exclusive first look at the new design. The evening also featured updates from Foundation leadership, stories from past scholarship recipients, and remarks from the current Festmaster.
