Tonya Beam, CHS Class of 1991
The Gaston Community Foundation, Inc. has announced a new scholarship established by Tonya Beam Miller, valedictorian of the Cherryville High School class of 1991 and a recipient of the Albert G. Myers Scholarship in the same year.
Miller, senior vice president and chief accounting officer at QGenda in Atlanta, used the Myers Scholarship to attend UNC-Chapel Hill.
The “Sam L. and Ruth M. Beam Memorial Scholarship,” named in honor of her parents, will be effective for eligible 2026 college-bound graduates of Gaston and Lincoln Counties.
According to Elizabeth Patton from the Gaston Community Foundation, candidates must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and show evidence of initiative, motivation, strong character, leadership, and community or school involvement.
